Tony Campbell, the youngest saxophonist inducted into the Pittsburgh Jazz Society’s Hall of Fame (2010), began his musical journey in Pittsburgh’s Hill District in 1973. At 13, he joined The Deltones, and in 1979 attended Berklee College of Music before continuing his studies at the University of Pittsburgh under Dr. Nathan Davis.

At 22, he recorded and toured with Roy Ayers and later joined Roger Humphries and RH Factor. In 1990, Campbell moved to New York City and toured the U.S. as lead alto saxophonist with Duke Ellington’s Sophisticated Ladies. He currently performs, records, produces, teaches, and hosts jazz jam sessions, nurturing Pittsburgh’s next generation of jazz talent.
